Bauchi to provide free medical service for children

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State on Saturday, announced free medical service scheme for children, aged five years and below.
Speaking at the inauguration of the scheme, the governor said health care delivery in the state,would be strengthened through a five point agenda initiated by his administration.

Refugees arrive at Hungary-Austria border

Hundreds of refugees have begun arriving at Hungary’s border crossing with Austria after spending days stranded at Budapest’s main railway terminus.
They will receive food before being registered and processed by authorities. About 4,000 refugees have arrived so far, police say, and the number is expected to reach 10,000 throughout Saturday.
The development came just hours after long lines of buses left Budapest packed with refugees, following an announcement by Austria that it had agreed with Germany to let them in.

NIGERIA: FG approves N400m for students on foreign scholarship

The Federal Government has approved N400 million for the payment of upkeep allowances of Nigerian students on foreign scholarships.
The Acting Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Hajia HIndatu Abdullahi, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.
Abdullahi attributed the delay to non-release of capital allowance and the change in government which delayed the release of capital allocation for 2015.

Volunteers visit he residents of a shanty town of Freetown, in Sierra Leone, to discuss with them, in order to fight against the Ebola virus.

New York, United States — The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has pledged to provide financing worth $360 million in support of a sustainable Post Ebola recovery effort for Guinea and Sierra Leone.
The announcement was made by Mr Sayed Aqa, IDB's Vice President for Cooperation and Capacity Development on the occasion of the International Ebola Recovery Conference held in New York, United States on 10 July 2015.
The Conference was organized by the UN in which the Presidents of the three affected countries, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone participated, along with large number of representatives of the international community.

Mr Aqa, representing the IDB President, Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali, stated that out of the $360 million, Guinea would receive US$220 million, while Sierra Leone would benefit from US$140 million. As for Liberia which is not a member country, IDB will strengthen its efforts through partnership with other development agencies such as the Arab Coordination Group to support the Post-Ebola recovery effort in that country.

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen on horseback have shot dead nearly 80 people in attacks on three villages in Nigeria's restive northeast at the weekend, a vigilante and residents have said.
Vigilante Babakura Kolo said 68 people were killed in the attack on Baanu village in Borno state late on Friday while residents said another 11 people were shot dead in two other villages on Saturday and Sunday.
"Reports reached us of an attack on Baanu village late on Friday where Boko Haram gunmen riding on horses opened fire on the village. Sixty-eight people were killed in the attack," Kolo told the AFP news agency on Monday.
